KnotWasted · Last updated: October 4, 2026
KnotWasted (knotwasted.com) is the English-language version of SinAserrín, a single web app operated by Ian Caleb Alvarez Zavaleta, an individual doing business in Mexico, located in Colonia Colonial del Lago, Nicolás Romero, Estado de México, 54476, Mexico ("KnotWasted," "we," "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Because we operate from Mexico, Mexico's federal data protection law for private parties applies to all users. Mexican residents can read the legally required notice in Spanish at sinaserrin.com/privacidad.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account: name and email address. If you use "Continue with Google," Google shares your name, email address, and profile photo with us.
- Projects: furniture dimensions, parts, materials, prices, and notes you enter.
- Orders to lumber yards: customer name, WhatsApp number, notes, parts and edge-banding list, cutting diagram, and estimated total.
- Lumber yard profiles (business accounts): business name, city, address, WhatsApp, and price lists.
- Community posts: photos and descriptions you choose to publish, shown with your first name.
- Billing (once paid plans are available): invoice details if you request an invoice. Our payment processors would send us only the payment status, transaction ID, plan, amount, and date. We never see or store your card number.
- Support: the content of messages you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Local storage: we store your session, your preferences (language, theme, price catalogs), and a local copy of your projects in your browser's local storage.
- Analytics: we may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures visits in aggregate without cookies and without identifying you.
- Security logs: our hosting providers process IP addresses and browser information to deliver the site and prevent abuse.
We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.
Information about other people. If you enter someone else's information (for example, a client's name and phone number in an order or quote), you confirm that you have their permission and have told them how it will be used. We process that information only on your behalf to provide the service.
2. How we use your information
To provide the service:
- Create and manage your account and sign you in.
- Save and sync your projects.
- Generate cutting plans and edge-banding, hardware, and cost estimates.
- Send your orders to the lumber yard you choose.
- Run the lumber yard directory.
- Process subscriptions and issue invoices, once paid plans are available.
- Send service messages: sign-in codes, billing notices, and policy updates.
- Provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the service secure.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Optional uses (you can opt out at any time):
- Product news, tips, and feedback surveys.
- Publishing your projects in the Community, only when you choose to post.
To opt out, use the unsubscribe link in any such email or write to [email protected]. Opting out does not affect your access to the service.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
We share information only as follows:
| Recipient | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Service providers that process data on our behalf: Supabase (database and authentication, U.S. East region, Virginia), Cloudflare (hosting, domains, email forwarding, cookieless analytics; global network), Resend (transactional email, U.S.), Google (the mailbox where we receive support messages) | Operating the service |
| The lumber yard you select | Quoting, cutting, and fulfilling your order. Once received, the lumber yard handles your order data under its own responsibility. |
| Payment processors, once paid plans are available: Stripe (U.S.) and Mercado Pago (Mexico) | Processing payments and preventing fraud. They would handle your card data directly under their own privacy policies. |
| Authorities | When required by law or valid legal process, or to protect rights and safety |
| A successor business | If the business is sold or merged, subject to this policy |
Services you choose to use. If you sign in with Google, Google's privacy policy governs what it shares with us. If you send an order via WhatsApp, you open a WhatsApp link and the message is sent within WhatsApp (Meta), under its own privacy policy.
4. International data transfers
We are based in Mexico and our main infrastructure is in the United States. Your information may be processed in Mexico, the United States, and other countries where our providers operate.
5. Your privacy rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Delete your information;
- Opt out of optional uses;
- Withdraw consent at any time.
We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.
How to make a request: email [email protected] with the subject "Privacy Request," from the email address linked to your account. We may ask for information to verify your identity. We will respond within 20 business days and may extend once when reasonably necessary, with notice. If we deny your request, we'll explain why.
You can correct your name directly in the app by tapping the circle with your initial on the home screen.
Mexican residents may also contact Mexico's data protection authority, the Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno.
Do Not Track. We do not track you across websites, so there is no tracking for a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal to stop.
6. Data retention and account deletion
- Account and projects: kept while your account is active; deleted within 30 days after you ask us to delete your account.
- Inactive free accounts: may be deleted after 24 months without sign-in, with 30 days' email notice.
- Orders sent to lumber yards: 12 months, for support.
- Payment and invoice records: 5 years, as required by Mexican tax law.
To delete your account, email [email protected] from the address linked to it. Signing out removes the local copy of your saved projects; clearing your browser's site data removes the rest.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections, database rules so each person can only read and change their own information, passwordless sign-in, and two-step verification on administrator accounts. No system is 100% secure. If a breach significantly affects you, we will notify you without undue delay.
8. Children's privacy
KnotWasted is intended only for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 or from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided information to us can contact [email protected].
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version with its date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.
